A WORD ABOUT PRODUCTION, PURCHASING AND DISTRIBUTION OF MUSICAL WORK

For many years, computer-aided music production involved MIDI sequencing (using Opcode's Vision software) which controlled the audio output (16 bit) of various synths and sound modules. These renderings were then recorded, first on cassette tape, and eventually onto CD. But the technology of digital music has improved immensly over the last several years and the studio has been kept up-to-date. The music sequencing is now handled by Logic Studio, Apple's integrated MIDI & audio software, which handles the new generation of soft-synth plug-ins, i. e., hard drive based audio samples that produce remarkably realistic instrumental sounds when sequenced into Logic's tracks. Consequently, old 16 bit external synth modules have been rendered practically obsolete.

Also, modes of transmission of musical product are undergoing dramatic transformation. Musical work is now distributed through shipped CD's or through data download via the internet (mailed hard-copy sheet music or downloadable .pdf's in the case of engraving work). For downloaded products, a web site URL will be provided upon receipt of payment from which customers can obtain demonstration or purchased material immediately.

So, depending on the client request, completed projects can be delivered as:

  • Recorded CD's
  • Downloadable .mp3's, .wav's, .mids or .aiff's
  • Fully engraved scores & lead sheets, publication quality, sent by post or by downloadable .pdf's.

FEES AND PAYMENT METHODS FOR SERVICES AND PRODUCTS

SERVICES FEES

Any musical sevice (transcription, arranging, engraving, copying, etc.)* requested of SirMuse would be provided on the basis of a negotiated fee (agreed upon by email communication or telephone contact) covering the labor involved in making a quality musical product. Fees are calculated based on a general labor fee of $35/hr. Obviously, different types of musical work will require different amounts of time to produce (for example, arranging, composing and ear transcriptions are the most labor-intensive) and so final costs would be arrived at by estimate. SirMuse will discount fees if the project is substantial enough, and will offer prospective customers free samples of their work for demonstration purposes, so that they may decide if the work meets their needs.

*) All transcribed or engraved music must either be public domain, or, if under copyright protection, reproduced with permission of the copyright owner. Arranging, transcribing or otherwise distributing copyrighted music without permission in unlawful.

PRODUCTS

The ALICE IN WONDERLAND and the MIDSUMMER NIGHT"S DREAM production packages are ready-made products intended for licensing and whose pricing options are listed on their respective web site pages. The materials will be made available for download (or shipped, if preferred) upon receipt of payment.

METHODS OF PAYMENT

Payment for all services or products must be by personal check or money order or by credit card payment to the SirMusePayPal account, listed under msirt@sirmuse.com. For clients choosing to pay by mail, an address and phone number will be made available by email, once a transaction is entered into.

For services on large musical enterprises, a 'pay as you go scheme' can be worked out whereby payment and delivery of the music is incrementally obtained. But for small or average sized projects, once an agreement is entered upon, SirMuse will complete the work and release it to the customer upon receipt of the customer's check or money order, or notification of payment by PayPal. Details of these transactions will vary from customer to customer depending on the project parameters and will be worked out between the parties through our communications.

DOWNLOADED ORDERS

Clients who opt for downloading their product or musical work will be able to retrieve their purchase via web browser from a web site URL (address) that will be forwarded to them by email upon receipt of payment.
